Welcome to Anchorage Figure Skating Club (AFSC) Online! AFSC was founded in 1942 and incorporated in 1972. The AFSC is a member club of US Figure Skating (USFSA). USFSA is the sponsoring organization for the U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team. Formed in 1921, US Figure Skating has established itself as one of the foremost skating associations worldwide and has developed many World and Olympic champions, a record of which it is truly proud. We offer skaters a quiet, relaxed atmosphere to learn and excel in the sport of ice skating. The AFSC is proud to offer the community a variety of benefits in belonging to the AFSC. We offer our skating classes at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where we have skated since 1979. We also provide Freestyle Skating sessions, Test sessions, and other events, including the annual Rondy on Ice show, competitions, etc. Many of our members have earned the right to compete at Junior Nationals, Sectional, National, and International competitions. Anchorage Figure Skating Club, Inc. is a public charity exempt from tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Charitable contributions are always welcome. Contributions help support competitive skaters, and make it possible for AFSC to offer Club Ice sessions. Every two years, Arctic Winter Games qualifying competitions are also sponsored by the AFSC. (The 2008 Arctic Winter Games will be held in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, with tryouts for Team Alaska for those Games to be held during the latter part of 2007.) Many volunteers are needed to help our club, and its events, thrive and succeed, and we encourage everyone to get involved. Please go to our Volunteer Opportunities page to find out how you can join in the fun.
